KB N°2731: USING A FILEZILLA FTP CLIENT WITH THE FTP PROXY

How to use a Filezilla-type FTP client with the FTP proxy.
Objective
We'll look at how to use a Filezilla-type FTP client with the Olfeo solution's FTP proxy.
The FTP proxy in the Olfeo solution works in passive mode only, and allows a choice of authentication, all managed by our filtering engine.
Steps
Step 1: FTP proxy configuration
- Go to Proxy Cache QoS > FTP > Tab: Configuration.
- Add a listening FTP proxy using the .
- In the newly created proxy, enter a name in the field in the Label column.
- In the newly created proxy, enter the listening TCP port in the Port column.
- In the newly created proxy, if you wish to set additional options, click on the link in the Options column.
- If you wish to limit the maximum number of outgoing connections allowed by the proxy, enter the maximum number of connections in the Connection limit field.
Step 2: Authentication/No authentication
It is possible to activate authentication on FTP proxies. To do this, you need a directory and an authentication mode:
- To add an authentication mode, go to page Settings > Authentication > Authentication mode.
- Add an authentication rule to the FTP proxy using the .
- Select the authentication mode created in Settings > Authentication > Authentication mode or the No authentication.
Step 3: Filezilla configuration
Validation
In the real time section(Statistics > Real time), the query will be visible:
Note that the Policy column shows that the rules engine handles this type of request.
Connection, access and content filtering can be assigned. These 3 methods can be used independently of each other or together in the Administration > Users tab.
